Friday Favourites

Happy Friday - wohoo!! I look forward to the weekend even more now because we don't get to see Jordan as much during the week. It's so nice having him around to help out, and also nice to have a conversation with an adult, instead of Piper just telling me "no" all day. Geez.

I put together a few different things I've been loving lately. Again, not paid to say any of this haha (anyone else feel like social media is turning into one giant catalog for companies these days??), I genuinely just like and want to share this stuff!

Lille Baby is the carrier we have for Piper and, since we just moved to California, we've been out and about exploring a lot more! Having a baby carrier has been A LIFE SAVER because I'll tell ya...Piper sure isn't light anymore! There are quite a few baby carriers out there, but we chose Lille Baby because there are 6 different ways to carry her which is really helpful because if I'm alone, I CAN put her on my back instead of against my bump. That wouldn't be comfortable for anyone haha. It's super light-weight and comfortable too! There's a nice little back support which honestly makes all the difference! We use it when we're on hikes, walks, or even just walking around town. Strollers can sometimes be such a bother when you're around a lot of people, so we always keep our baby carrier in the car, just in case!

They have a few different kinds, but we have the All-Seasons one because there is a little zipper on the front where you can expose some mesh if things get a little toasty up in there! THIS is the exact one that we have! It's also nice because you can use it from 7-45lbs, so I'm sure it'll come in handy for our baby boy when we need something to carry him for longer periods of time! This feels like a sales pitch haha, but I honestly just really love this brand and highly recommend it!

Since it's the first day of Fall (!!!!!!!), I feel like it would be a sin not to share a pumpkin recipe! Yes, I know that loving pumpkin is very #basic...yada yada...but WHY IS IT SO GOOD?! I think I might be extra obsessed with it this year because of pregnancy, but I can't seem to get enough! Here's a suuuuper simple pumpkin protein smoothie that you HAVE to try! Every time I make it (so everyday ha), I comment to Jordan about how good it is! It surprises me each time!

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 2 tbsp pumpkin puree, a handful of ice, 1 scoop of IdealRaw's vanilla protein (as always, you can get 10% off with "SWOLE"), 2 tbsp peanut butter powder (Or just regular peanut butter), and as much cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice as you want! Blend it up and get down.

I'm still figuring out how I want to decorate Piper's nursery, especially because we spend quite a bit of time playing in there now, and we'll also be adding a baby boy in there soon. I don't want it to be too girly, but I also don't want it to be too boring, ya know? I'm still working on it, BUT I did find theeeee cutest little rug to go in there from Lorena Canal!

I think I originally saw this rug on their Instagram, but I love how perfect it is for a little playroom/toddler bedroom. Piper LOOOVES it, and always brings her toys onto the rug to play. The main reason I got it, other than how adorable I think it is, is because it is machine washable (hence why I sometimes let Piper snack on it)! It's every mother's dream really. It's 100% natural cotton too, which I think is why it's soooo soft and cozy.

I also love that it has the alphabet because Piper has been really into copying everything we say and learning new words (I swear she learns at least 2 new words every day right now!!), we've been pointing at letters and teaching her the sounds while we play. I'm not sure if she fully gets it yet haha, but I think it's such a cute learning tool!

Any time I post an Instagram story where the rug is in the background, I get TONs of messages asking where I got it from. I think the first time it appeared in a story, I got over 100 people asking about it haha. Anyway, I'm really happy with it and I love how neutral it looks, and how it has already tied her room together a bit more! Now to figure out every other aspect of her nursery...

We usually have at least one stir fry a week because I find them SO easy to make, and we normally have all the ingredients on hand. Piper suddenly turns super clingly around 5pm...aka right when I'm trying to get dinner ready, so these easy kind of meals are so helpful when I'm desperate!

INGREDIENTS: serves 4 (adapted from recipe HERE)

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp raw honey, or maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (not store bought)
  • 3 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 1/2 tsp sriracha sauce
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 lb broccoli
  • seasame seeds, for garnish
  • green onion, for garnish

Cook chicken in coconut oil, and set aside once cooked through. Stir together chicken broth, honey or maple syrup, garlic, orange zest, orange juice, coconut aminos, sriracha sauce, ginger and red pepper flakes. Pour mixture into skillet on low heat, stirring often, until sauce has been reduced. Remove from heat and pour over chicken. Steam broccoli and combine everything.

I think diastasis recti, and just pregnancy abdominal separation in general, is being talked about a TIIIIINY bit more - which is awesome! BUT I believe there's still a lot more resources/information that need to be out there. Firstly, you CAN prevent abdominal separation! It is NOT something that you "just get" when you're pregnant. I try sharing workouts that not only prevent separation, but also actually strengthen the core in a safe way. Here are some of my favourites:

  1. Core & Glutes
  2. Low Impact
  3. Stability Ball
  4. Core
  5. Core & Glutes
  6. Core

Friday Favourites

HAPPY FRIDAYY! We don't have any big plans for this weekend, but I kind of love that. Although there's no "weekend off parenting" (there really should be), it's so much nicer having Jordan around more and spending time together as a family.

It's been a minute since I've done one of these thangs, so here's a few things that I've been super into lately. Workouts, recipes, baby stuff, health's all there really.

Okay well, duh. Obviously my new pregnancy guide (located under the "shop" tab) is going to make it on the list. I have been completely blown away by the support of this release. I am SO excited and proud of it, and feel so lucky to be able to share something I'm so passionate about with others. It contains safe and effective workouts for all trimesters (multiple full body, lower body, upper body, and core workouts for each trimester). It's designed for women who feel lost on how to safely exercise throughout pregnancy, and it's my hope that it helps women feel strong, confident, and healthy. You can get it HERE!

People often refer to this as a "detox" drink, but I hate that word because I think it has a bad connotation, BUT this mixture of ingredients has a lot of great benefits! Apple cider vinegar is full of of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. It's awesome for gut health (a health gut = a healthy body), balances PH levels, and cleanses the system. Make sure it's raw and unfiltered vinegar, because filtering, pasteurizing and processing kills all of the good stuff. Lemon aids in digestion and detoxification, and cayenne pepper is great for boosting metabolism, also digestion, and increasing blood circulation.

If this is a bit...much for you at first, try adding in more warm water and a little raw honey (regular honey has been processed that all of the benefits are lost). I've been drinking this every morning and I look forward to it now!

I plan to do an entire post about collagen because this shiz is MONEY! But until then, trust me. Better yet, do your own research! Read about it from credible sources and I guarantee you'll start adding it into your diet. I get mine from Vital Proteins because it is unflavoured and dissolves into anything. Lately, I've been on a protein pancake kick (hello, Kodiak Cakes), and have been added a scoop of collagen into the batter, along with Enjoy Life chocolate chips because...well you know. This combo is amazing!

  • 1/2 cup Kodiak Cakes
  • 1 scoop Vital Proteins collagen peptides
  • 1/3 cup water
  • small handful of Enjoy Life

Add natural peanut butter (my favourite is Crazy Richards), chia seeds, and berries on top!

I posted this picture on my Instagram last week, and I still go back and look at it because I can't get over her. I never would have thought I'd have a blue eyed baby (mine are dark, dark green), but she has these huge bright blue eyes and I love them. Enough about Piper, this is about the company Cuddle + Kind. They donate 10 nutritious meals to children in need for every doll sold. On top of that, the dolls are made by Peruvian women which I love. I got Piper Sadie the fox, and she is so, so cute! She stays in Piper's crib, and I often hear Piper chatting to her when she wakes up. I love companies who work to make a difference in the world. On top of that, their stuff is high quality and so adorable. I'm a fan.
