I planned on doing a little “one year update” for Jack when he turned one, but I kind of dropped the ball…anddd here we are at 14 months. Oh well!
He is one busy little guy, and is into everything. Luckily, he likes taking everything out and then putting it all back, so there’s less clean up for me haha. I’m not mad about it.
He is an absolute SAVAGE when it comes to eating. He gets sooooo messy. He is really independent, and refuses to eat when I try and feed him, but when he feeds himself it ends up everywhere. Still trying to figure out a solution.
He took his first step on Thanksgiving, and officially started walking right before his birthday (December 5th). He looks a little bit like Frankenstein when he’s walking around, but he’s getting faster and faster every day!
He is still sooooo cuddly, and comes over to lay on me a couple of times every day. I hope he never gets too cool for me, because it’s my favourite thing in the world.
He has ALL of his teeth now (other than the molars that come in later on). The last two popped through at 12 months. Piper had like 2 teeth at his age haha. It’s so crazy, but he does super well with solid foods because of it!
He’s coping a lot of what we say now, and it always catches me off guard when I hear his little voice repeat something I say. He’s saying: mama, dada, woof, ding dong, thank you, shoe, amen (this one kills me), ball, vroom vroom, and rawr haha.
He’s’ overall a really happy, content baby, but he has a lot of separation anxiety when he sees me leave, or when we’re in new places. He’ll roam around by himself and play happily at home, but when we’re in a new environment he wants to be right next to me the whole time. I remember Piper going through a little phase like this, but he’s preeeetty attached. I’m not sure if it’s just a normal thing, or if it might be heightened because he’s started doing overnights with Piper at their dads house every other weekend.
He LOVES reading books. He’s goes and gets a book, walks it over to me, and sits down on my lap for me to read it to him. It’s so cute. He especially loves finding the dogs and balls. He’s become really into blocks and building things. He loves any kind of machinery, and anything with buttons, and will play with it until he figures out how it works (it’s pretty impressive actually haha). He loves balls and putting them into stuff. I often find them in my draws, and bowls.
His eczema has overall gotten much better than it was, but it still flares up and there are a few things I’m working with the dermatologist to figure out. I’m hoping he’ll outgrow it, because in general it’s SIGNIFICANTLY better than it used to be. Poor lil guy.
When we moved into our own place, I put them into the same room, and he LOOOOVES it. As soon as he wakes up, he’s standing in his crib facing Piper, and it jabbering away about who knows what. They play so well together (Piper still gets a little rough sometimes), and he always wants to be right by her side.
He’s sleeping really well still - usually straight from 7pm,-8am, and then two naps during the day. He loves his muslin blankets, and sucks on them while he sleeps haha. I love it.
